WRSP Junior Training Camp

 
2010 Western Regional Sass Peepre Junior Training Camp
July 1, 5 & 6 at Cranbrook, BC

In 2010, there will be 2 Sass Peepre Junior Training Camps. A Western Regional Camp will be held in conjunction with the North American Orienteering Championships (NAOC) in early July in Cranbrook, BC. An Eastern Regional Camp will be held in conjunction with the Canadian Orienteering Championships (COC) in August in Ottawa, Ontario. 

For whom:
                    Juniors age 10 – 20. Siblings younger than 10 are welcome only if a parent volunteers at camp. Non-Canadian juniors are welcome.

Schedule:
                    On July 1, there will be a morning session (approximately 8:30 - 11:30 am) on the model map, near Cranbrook.  If participating in the model event, please register separately through the NAOC events online registration.
                    On July 5 & 6 (one overnight in Cranbrook), there will be training sessions on the NAOC maps.























Location: 
                    Training will be at orienteering maps located near Cranbrook. For the July 1 session, parents will
                    transport juniors to the Model Event map by 9:00 am.  If the parents have registered for the Model event they may gone onto the map at that time. On July 5/6, transport to maps will be in coaches’ cars.

Accommodation: 
                    July 5th, will be at Mount Baker Secondary School in Cranbrook. Participants will sleep on the floor of the gym and a classroom (separate sleeping quarters for boys and girls). Meals will be prepared by volunteers.

                    North American Orienteering Festival www.naoc2010.com 

Camp Fee:
                    $45 (includes accommodation and meals July 5 & 6). $25 of this fee is non-refundable.  The camp organizers recognize the contribution of the Sass Peepre Memorial Fund in keeping costs at a reasonable and affordable level.
                    
Registration:
                   Pay the fee when you register online for NAOC2010 events. Send the registration form (2010 WRSP Camp registration form.pdf ) to the registrar before June 15. The form must be received by the registrar by June 15.

CALLING ALL COACHES!!

We need adults to volunteer to help coach at all levels from beginner to advanced. We also need adults to volunteer to help prepare the meals (1 breakfast, 2 lunches and 1 supper). Whether you are a National Team athlete (either current or past), or a parent of a camp participant, please consider offering your time. 
Coaches and cooking volunteers will receive free room and board at the camp. Sorry – no honoraria! 
If you have a vehicle, you will be asked to help with transporting participants the short distance to training sessions.
